Bits and Pieces
My art foundation tutor once told me to take a watercolour I had done and ‘rip it up and start again’. Thanks, that was what I call a helpful critique. 20 years on, a fellow artist and friend gave me a new take on that as I watched her recreate the mountains behind our house from shreds of painted paper. ‘Its great when you’ve got a picture you don’t like,’ she told me, with her habitual sparkling laugh , ‘You just rip it up and use it in a collage!’
